Admissions:
Due to COVID-19, university admissions as we know them will be different for the classes of 2021 and 2022. There will be an increased focus on essays, course rigor, grades, and character skills, demonstrated through letters of recommendation and extracurricular activities. Colleges will also be looking for signs that students are truly interested in their schools, so juniors and seniors, make sure you are registering for webinars in Naviance. (NPR)

Learn the Lingo:
Below are some terms and phrases that may be helpful to you.

ED - Early Decision Application

  • Students can only apply Early Decision to one college.
  • It is legally binding, if the university accepts the student, the student has to deposit and withdraw all other applications.
  • Early Decision is used when there is a clear first choice, and the student's GPA and/or test scores are within range of accepted students. Under the above circumstances, applying ED may increase the likelihood of admission.

EA - Early Action

  • There is no limit to the number of colleges a student can apply to using Early Action.
  • It is not binding, but it demonstrates interest.

Rolling Application

  • Applications are read and answered as they are received.
