Girls Learn International (GLI), an accredited NGO with the United Nations, supports girls’ education and gender equality in developing nations. Students of the Trinity Prep GLI chapter can directly impact the lives of hundreds of girls in schools overseas through the GLI network of partner schools.

Founder and leader of the Trinity Prep GLI chapter, Noopur Ranganathan '17, was honored on Oct 20, 2015 by the Futures Foundation for Volusia County schools for her contribution to sponsor a grant that introduces STEM research in Volusia County high schools.

Ranganathan has been instrumental in establishing the independent research class here at Trinity Prep. She said, “Although the United States spends millions of dollars on global education, it is alarming to see a high level of gender inequality in STEM education right here at home. Many schools in Florida’s Volusia County lack STEM programs that lead students, especially girls, to have limited career aspirations.”

In an effort to create gender equality in education, Ranganathan sponsored this grant for schools that do not currently have any sort of STEM program. This creates an opportunity for approximately 2000 students from Volusia County high schools to participate in regional, state and international STEM research competitions.

To fund this grant, Ranganathan donated the entire award she won at the 2015 Intel ISEF research competition. She accepted the honor at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Thank you Noopur for your gift, and for helping to spread STEM education!
