On Dec. 14, members of Trinity Prep's Quiz Bowl team traveled to Bishop Moore High School to compete in the Orange County Quiz Bowl playoffs. Two rounds of intricate and well-designed questions were asked during the competition, truly making it a challenge for all participants. Trinity Prep students performed exceedingly well in each round. They first defeated Timber Creek High School in the semifinals and then went on to defeat Dr. Phillips High School in the finals. Their performance allowed them to complete their season at the top of the standings, earning the #1 seed in the playoffs and an outstanding record of 10-1.

In addition to this great team success, both Sylvia Choo '16 and Sumer Sao '18 were selected to participate on the Orange County Quiz Bowl team, competing in the state Quiz Bowl tournament in April. This will be Sao's first appearance for the county team and Choo's fourth. Choo could not be more thrilled to be a part of the Quiz Bowl team, and she's looking forward to the county competition. "TPS Quiz Bowl has taught me how to be more decisive and confident, "Choo said, " It's been great playing these past four years with people who are so excited about learning, and I'm really excited to play for Orange County one last time this April. I'm so glad I started Quiz Bowl as a freshman; the experience has been invaluable to me." While this competition will be much more intense due to the larger number and higher complexity of questions, there is no doubt our students will represent Trinity Prep well.

Kyle McGimsey, director of the team and Trinity Prep faculty member, says he is extremely proud of everything the team has accomplished."Mrs. Burmeister, Mrs. Phillips, and I could not be more proud of the team, " he said. "Whether they were in control of a match or battling back from a deficit, the team found a way to win. From the ninth graders to the seniors, everyone contributed to our success this year. The fact that our team has brought home the county championship multiple times speaks volumes about the quality of these students and our school as a whole."
