Trinity Prep is proud to announce that two of our student-athletes, Caroline White '16 and Charles Cook '16, have been selected as the Athlete of the Year in their respective sports for the Bright House Sports Network Breakfast of Champions. In addition to being acknowledged for their athletic accomplishments, the students have been invited to attend a breakfast sponsored by the Bright House Sports Network at which they will be recognized with other talented high school athletes.
Caroline White '16 was chosen for her outstanding performance in girls swimming and diving. She has been a swimmer at Trinity Prep for four years and continues to maintain her passion. Her coach Rocco Aceto said, "Caroline's accomplishments at the end of the season are truly a reflection of her effort and attitude throughout the season."

Latin team takes top honors at NRCE and NLVE competitions
By Delaney McLinden '18

Earlier in the semester, several Trinity Prep students competed in both the National Roman Civilization Exam (NRCE) and the National Latin Vocabulary Exam (NLVE).
The following students received medals for their results in the National Roman Civilization Exam: Prescott Da Vittoria Lobo '19 and Anusha Karandikar '20 won bronze; Joshua Dietrich '19 and Amber Yang '17 won silver; and Kerstin Heinrich '16 Jack Sammet '19 won gold.
Awards for the National Latin Vocabulary Exam included Lindsey Zhuang '22 and Amber Yang for bronze; Anusha Karandikar, Rakhi Patel '17, and Noopur Ranganathan '17 won silver; and Aspen Bombardo '17, Saumya Sao '16, Sumer Sao '18, and Sylvia Choo '16 won gold medals.
As well as the National Latin Exams, 33 Trinity Prep Latin students joined over a thousand from various schools across Florida to compete at the 67th Florida Junior Classical League state Latin forum. The forum consists of competitions of all kinds: academic, athletic, artistic, and oratory. Our Trinity Prep students achieved great success, both individually and as a group.
As a school, Trinity Prep received seventh place in club t-shirt, national delegation t-shirt design for third place, second place for spirit, first place for our bazaar booth, first place for publicity, eighth place for the academic sweepstakes, third place for the Ludi sweepstakes, and 10th for the overall sweepstakes. In the many years the club has participated in the tournament, this was Trinity Prep's best performance to date.
Several students received individual awards. Aspen Bombardo placed first and received a $100 cash prize for reading comprehension, prose, Latin literature, and Academic Decathlon. Sylvia Choo placed fourth in mythology, third in classical Greek language, and first in Heptathlon. Lorenzo Guani '16 placed fourth in mottoes and quotations; Leah Hardgrove '17 placed fourth in declamations; Kerstin Heinrich placed fourth in classical art; Matthew Mapa '21 placed fourth in mythology and won first in the Pentathlon; and Henry Huschke '21 placed third in geography. Also, Rakhi Patel placed fifth in declamations; Saumya Sao placed fifth in Greek literature and third in vocabulary; Sumer Sao placed second in history of the empire; Richard Woodruff '18 placed third in dramatic interpretation--poetry, and Amber Yang placed fourth in derivatives and third in vocabulary.
"The State Latin Forum represents the culmination of a year of hard work and study," says Latin teacher Kyle McGimsey. "Our students' enthusiasm for the language and culture of ancient Rome is proof enough that the classics at Trinity Prep are anything but dead."
Congratulations to the entire Latin team on their many accomplishments!Forensics team shines at Novice State Tournament
By Alyssia McDonald '17
From April 15 to 16, 16 Trinity Prep forensics students competed at the annual Novice State Tournament at Wellington High School in West Palm Beach. The tournament was open to students from member schools who qualified as "Novice" under the guidelines set by the league, meaning the students had fewer than 25 National Forensics League (NFL) points at the start of the current school year, had competed in less than three tournaments in the previous school year, and had never competed at Novice State.
Our novice forensic members, mostly freshman and sophomore students, performed extremely well. A quarter of the students broke into elimination rounds, and three were finalists. Trinity Prep faculty member and forensics sponsor, Dean Rhoads, is exceedingly proud of the students. He said, "While it is sad to be graduating so many talented seniors, with novices like these, our future is bright! We are very proud of them." Check out the results below to see how they placed, and congratulations to the entire forensics team!
Results
Eli Finkelstein '19 was an original oratory semifinalist.
Andrew Kwa '19, Andrew Miller '19, and Alissa Vuillier '19 were congress finalists.
Allen Park '19 received sixth place in extemporaneous speaking.
Aavni Gupta '18 received fourth place in oral interpretation.
ASSIST STUDENT
Each year, Trinity Prep hosts an exchange student through the ASSIST program. Past host families have loved the experience and found it rewarding both them and their children. Trinity Prep will be hosting Clay from the Gold Coast in Australia in the fall. He will attend as a junior. Clay enjoys the outdoors and plays rugby and soccer.
We have a host family for the first semester, but typically the student transfers to a different family for the second semester. If you are interested in hosting Clay next year during second semester, please contact the admission office for more information.

Student-athletes awarded for 2015-16 school year
Trinity Prep recognizes student-athletes who both succeed in their sports and exhibit outstanding sportsmanship and character. The following students have won awards for their hard work and excellence during the 2015-16 school year. We are very proud of their accomplishments.
Senior John Michael Night has been named the Booster Club fan of the year.
The letterman of the year award goes to both male and female athletes who have earned the most varsity letters in their high school careers. There is a tie between Meagan Johnson '16 and Josie Starling '16 as female lettermen of the year; the male letterman of the year is Jesse Millson '16.
The scholar-athlete award is given to the athletes with the highest GPAs, Lillian Pope '20 and Parker Jochum '18.
The U.S. Army scholar-athlete award was given to both Matt Callan '16 and Cassie Veneziano '16 for exhibiting academic, athletic, and extracurricular excellence.
Every year, the George Austin Memorial Award is given to a junior who has participated in at least one varsity sport and who, regardless of athletic accomplishments, exhibits the qualities of sportsmanship, interest, enthusiasm, spirit, and pride. This year's recipient is Taylor Kienle '17.
Finally, nominated by their coaches and voted on by administrators, faculty, and staff, the female athlete of the year is Claire Callan '16, and the male athlete of the year is Jared Herron '16.
"The best part of being an athletic director is watching our student-athletes compete," says Steven Bluth, Trinity Prep athletic director. "Trinity Prep athletes train hard, are passionate about their sports, and love our school. It is a privilege and an honor to lead our athletic program, and I couldn't be any prouder of our student-athletes." Congratulations to the award recipients!
Students recognized for outstanding community service achievements
On April 28, 2016, Trinity Prep held it's annual Community Service Awards Ceremony to recognize students who have gone above and beyond in their community service efforts. Trinity Prep's mission statement includes a commitment to developing students who are able to excel in college and beyond, contribute to their communities, lead in a changing society, and grow spiritually. Two special awards, The Certificate of Honor for Leadership in Community Service and The Community Service Award for Outstanding Leadership, were created to recognize students for exceptional service to the community over a commitment of hours. To be considered for one of these awards, a student must be nominated and receive a letter of recommendation from the organization.
The Certificate of Honor for Leadership in Community Service is given to those students who exhibit a long-term commitment to a specific service organization and consistently recognized achievement in their endeavors. This year's recipients are Aliya Centner and Safia Centner for Nemours Childrens Hospital; Kathleen Garvey for St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church; Sarah Hameer, Lia Jueng, Cameron Qiao, and Amber Yang for the Orlando Science Center; Kurt Loiseau for the Seminole County Library and South Seminole Hospital; and Robert Witten for Key Club and Families in Transition.
Senior Julia Paoli Selected for Prestigious University of Florida Scholarship
Senior Julia Paoli is the winner of a 2016 Stamps Scholarship to the University of Florida. The Stamps Scholarship is a premier award at the University of Florida and part of the John V. Lombardi and Stamps Scholarship competition. Students selected for this prestigious award exemplify a commitment to excellence, community service, and public responsibility.
Scholars receive funding for eight semesters at the University of Florida. Each summer, scholars participate in an undergraduate enhancement experience which includes two study-abroad programs. As part of a national community of Stamps Scholars, they have opportunities to enhance their academic interests, leadership development, research interests, and international service opportunities.
Each Florida high school initially nominates two students for the Lombardi and Stamps scholarship programs, and applicants go through an application and interview process to advance to the finalist phase. Finalists participate in a weekend scholarship competition, and from that group, the University of Florida decides on Lombardi and Stamps Scholarship winners.
A Trinity Prep scholarship committee, made up of administrators and faculty, selects the Trinity Prep nominees after careful consideration of students' activities and academic achievements as well as their interest in the University of Florida.Congratulations, Julia!
